Porqué soy Doula Why I’m a Doula

Hola mi nombre es Anabel Rivera soy puertorriqueña y madre de 2. Con el tiempo hemos visto cómo las instituciones se han deshumanizado, poco a poco han ido tomando la autoridad y el poder de la mujer sobre su cuerpo. No se ofrece acompañamiento a quienes lo necesitan o simplemente lo desean, especialmente en la comunidad Latinx donde la barrera del idioma cada vez hace más grande.
Busco que cada nacimiento, cada decisión y deseo sea respetado y lleno de amor. Que la gestante esté informada, educada y quiera brindarle el apoyo emocional, bienestar fÃsico necesario durante el embarazo y posparto.
Me impulsa mi experiencia de vida, pasión y amor por las mujeres, lo sagrado femenino, su fuerza, su magia, coraje, poder y quiero recordárselo. Por respeto a los maravillosos procesos naturales de la vida, respeto al tiempo, a la espiritualidad. El parto es un proceso en el que la persona embarazada experimenta una transición vida-muerte-vida.
Y porque quiero marcar la diferencia.
Hola, my name is Anabel Rivera. I am Puerto Rican and mother of 2. Over time we have seen how institutions have become dehumanized, little by little they have taken over the authority and power of women over their bodies. Accompaniment is not offered to those who need it or simply want it, especially in the Latinx community where the language barrier is getting bigger and bigger.
I seek that every birth, every decision and desire be respected and full of love. That the pregnant person is informed, educated and I want to provide the necessary emotional support, physical well-being during pregnancy and postpartum.
I am driven by my experience of life, passion and love for women, the sacred feminine, her strength, her magic, courage, power and I want to remind this to them. Out of respect for the wonderful natural processes of life, respect for time, for spirituality. Childbirth is a process where the pregnant person experiences a life-death-life transition.
And because I want to make a difference.

With the current situation that we are living worldwide, many pregnant people are losing the support of their doulas.
